The Importance of Treating AI as a Tool

People have a lot of misunderstandings about what AI is and what it does. I'm on the pure tool side for practical reasons, but that reflects my priors because I don't presume to know how human agents work or produce language. At this point in the stage of AI, I think the safe bet and the most sensible thing is to say this is a software product and a tool.
