The Relationship Between the Afghan Population in Pakistan and Violence or Terrorism

This chapter explores the lack of a relationship between the large Afghan population in Pakistan and violence or terrorism. It discusses statistics on the Afghan population, the absence of credible data on undocumented Afghans and their potential involvement in illicit trade. The overwhelmed capacity of the UNHCR office in Pakistan and the anti-immigrant narrative blaming illegal immigrants for security issues are also addressed.
