Wele: I was inspired by the souls of black folk. And i i didn't find anything during my research there. So tell us what you've decided to do about it, because you're kind of taking the next step on aren't you? Wele: Well, maybe that's, that's an interesting way of putting it. It's a very difficult time for African Americans in America and they have been rendered voiceless. But these spirituals gave voice to experiences which are just so appalling that we can't even imagine them.
