The Origins of Wherewoods
A God's Wood is a forested area within a castle. Since so many castles are built specifically around particular heart trees, you could say that a castle is a stone structure built around a God's Wood. Typically this is a Wherewood with a face, but not always. So technically, rather, Wildlings carves and faces into some of the normal, but prominent faces near Castle Black. But maybe we're wrong. Maybe the trees saw all of those things too.
