The Allegory of the Cave
The ancient Greek philosopher Plato had something to say about this distinction between our thoughts and life as it is. The point of the allegory is that we live in a world of delusion. And some of us are even very comfortable with that delusion. We cling to our habits of mind and our routine activities because it's what we know. But really, we're not in control. We can't be. Everything's changing. Nothing static. Not knowing is the most intimate.
