The Problem With Scanning
In scan the final result is the entire accumulated state after each move so what I'm going to have at the end it may be that I I decide that what my result is going to be. My intermediate state will be the board whose move it is and then what I really want which is how many pieces there are. It might turn out to be a problem to keep a copy of that intermediate state for each iteration of the argument particularly if you don't care about it at the very end of the day.
