The Rise of Micro-Lending
The modern concept of micro-lending really took off with the pioneering work of Muhammad Yunus. He created Grammian Bank for that purpose, and the idea rapidly spread. We see a proliferation of financial services in Latin America, across Sub-Saharan Africa,. Across the Arab world, in Southeast Asia. And certainly there has been a lot of attention on Sri Lanka and Cambodia as places where over indebtedness has become a problem.
