The Politics of Devolution
There's been a long history of shared working between the little councils there. Other places are catching up like the West Midlands and Liverpool. I think in places where it's not worked well, you can look at perhaps Cambridge or in Peter Brewer,. There's been disagreements between local leaders. And then Tees Valley, there's been quite high profile allegations around mismanagement and so on. So I think the main thing to look at is when you look at devolution across the country, it's not a silver bullet... Local leaders need to work hard to get it right.
