Penitence and Confessional Confessions

Father Jacob Bertrand: Don't be afraid. Once again, gather together a small bouquet of devotion. So St. Francis to Sales sets this conversation up in terms of contrition or what we might call penitence. And here we understand it as a virtue so it's not just something that you bring to the sacrament of confession for confession. In the spiritual tradition of the church, we often relate penitence or contrition to the virtue of justice.
