We need public figures and politicians to speak in a language of honest doubt. It is permissible for them to change their minds, where it doesn't have to be an apology,. There's been such a temptation, i think, to offer bold and definitive statements. We need to get very comfortable with the idea that certain kinds of risk require decisive, early action. And there are some really awful mission creep terms like 'mission creep', which sounds incredibly abstract but actually means pandemic surveillance.
