High altitude pulmonary edema causes fluid to leak inside the lungs. The common treatment for it is to take diuretics that essentially move the liquid from your body. Another team member, Mark Gerber, developed signs of high altitude cerebral edema. Shortly afterward, Jim Baker got a condition called Deep Tissue Thrombo phlebitis.
