The Importance of Openness in the Economy
Ireland has more immigrants per head than the United Kingdom. Yet we have no anti-immigrant party yet. We've had two referendums, one in abortion and one in gay marriage. Both of them have shown overwhelmingly that the country is liberal. In fact, John, looking around the world, Ireland's a bit of an outlier. While the rest of the world is going more in liberal, more populist, we are becoming more open and more liberal.
