Is the $300 Cliff of the Unemployment Benefit a Small Scale Program?
I'm struck by how little discussion there is about the economy as a whole and specifically unemployment relief for those left jobless. I would say that because our jobs numbers have improved, quote unquote, over the last few months, it's not so important to extend these top-top benefits. And conversely, if we look at other economic indicators like spending or, you know, foreclosure rates or mortgage defaults, so far there hasn't been kind of a crash in those indicators. But until we see the evidence of that, which I, and many other economists have argued, we will certainly start to see evictions rise.
