The Imperfects Are Commandments, Not Suggestions

The first three chapters of Ephesians are mainly in dictatives. Paul is just enthusing about the grace of God. The last three chapters are mainly inperatives. There's two ways that we go wrong when it comes to the commands of God. We can under emphasize them or overestimate our own obedience.
