When Puffy came on the scene with his bad boy records label, that's when you really started the lyrical content of hip hop. Blatant materialism, blatant worshipping of certain corporate brands and if it wasn't that, then it was so-called gangster rap. Jay-Z came along mid-90s. He's talking about slinging crap cocaine and all these other sort of criminal things. So way back then, you know, 30 years ago, you could see these agendas starting to come in.
