The Deportation of the Deportees
After leaving busby, arizona, the train carrying about 12 hundred men travelled 16 hours east to columbus, new mexico. They set up what was essentially a refugee camp, where many of them stayed for months. Back in bisby the town placed armed guards on all the roads to keep the deported workers from coming back. The city also established a kangaroo court, which continued to deport hundreds of people for vagrancy and other arges.
