The DSM-5 defines autism as hyperactivity to sensory input or unusual interests in sensory aspects of the environment. Autistic people tend to prefer structure and routine, which is a sign that they need support with new things. Some autistic people call them special interests; for me it's an intense interest in one particular field. The science and traits include repetitive motor movements, use of objects or speech.
