i very consciously stayed away from making the arguments for a liberal arts education. What you really want is information to stick and to be flexible. Ultimately, you want them to be able to apply it in sit s they've never seen. And teaching narrowly and using procedures knowledge is basically a way to undermine that. i think if we are too focused on these narrow sets of tests, that can be a big problem.
