The Power of Moral Outrage on Social Media
One of the most potent recent examples of moral outrage on social media is the response to the Parkland High School shooting a couple of months ago. Many major retailers responded to this outrage dropping their partnerships with the NRA. At the same time there were examples of what I might call sort of misfiring outrage. People were outraged about aspects of the events that were maybe not the the most effective targets of their outrage. And they behaved in ways that in some ways might be counterproductive.
