Origins was wrestling with the same question because he had, I'm not sure if he got excommunicated or if he just sort of ran afoul of his own bishop in Alexandria. But you can see a lot of times in origins writing where he seems to recognize the authority of church structure but then almost have this parallel authority of scriptural exegesis as its own authority. These things need to communicate and counterbalance each other. If God really is the thing or reality, I should say, or person or whatever revealed, then that can't have an end and remain God. And yet it is true that it's revealed to us.
