Alice Alquist was a world famous opera singer adored for her beautiful voice. She died by strangulation, her essence choked on the sight of her talent,. Her niece Paula goes to Italy to study opera with Maestro Guardi who trained Alice. The art form of singing connects Paula to her deceased aunt. Opera here is a stand-in for Vitality, the life force, Eros - the spirit that animates both Alice and her niece Paula.
