The Introduction of Thermometers to Medical Practice
In the late 19th century you get the introduction of thermometers into medical practice. Back then fevers back then weren't seen as some sort of like signal or sign of a disease. The fever was just the disease. And in the 1850s when Vunderlich was doing his thing it was like an era when big data was becoming king.
