Do You Need a Background in Policy to Be a UX Researcher?

I think it gives me appreciation and respect for the policy side of things. It feels like a little bit more holistic in terms of, okay, I am practically and functionally a technologist. You definitely don't need a background in policy to be a UX researcher. And you should be totally open to learning lots from the people that you end up working with.
