We have the capacity to pause and notice what's happening so that we can deal with whatever is happening in real life more skillfully. So for example, if we're suddenly feeling a lot of stress in a conversation and we feel some reactivity and maybe some anger, instead of reacting in that moment and saying something that we might regret, we can pause. Maybe our jaw is clenching. Maybe our body is constricting in different ways or we feel a pull in our back or tension in our tummy. We have all of these brilliant cues within our body.
