The Beauty of the Year

Papa sent for mary, and se got all dolled up in a fancy dress and was brought out to this group. At the group, she was passed from lap to lap, each man inspected her to decide if she was worthy. And also, they were all giving her candy and smooches and stuff. She said it was one of the high lights of her life. It was very glamorous. But i'm just going, oh, my gosh, that's kind of gross.
