The dish has always been cited as having been invented for the singer while she was touring the United States. One article in several mentions that Auguste to scoffee who's name you may recognize as a previous podcast subject is the one who invented it. Another often cited originator is chef Ernest Arbeghast, who worked at San Francisco's Palace Hotel in the early 1900s. This version states that he created it for her when she was singing in San Francisco and is included in Charles Nelson Gaddys biography of Louisa tetrazzini.
