The Illumination of Conscience From the Faith Perspective

Prophecy can't have more than one fulfilment, but it does mean that we can't simply appeal to matthew or mark or luke as if it were predicting the proposed illumination of conscience. Instead, it's normally a figurative way of expressing what it will be like to live through a very traumatic experience. And given that jesus is explicitly talking about the destruction of the temple in a d 70, that's how it should be taken here.
