NATO Secretary Reaffirms Ukraine Will Eventually Join NATO

NATO Secretary Jen Stoltenberg reaffirmed on Tuesday that the alliance wants to eventually admit Ukraine a promise first made in 2008. Zelensky has been repeatedly rebuffed, but Western officials still maintain that it's going to happen one day. Russia was seeking security guarantees from the U.S. to deescalate tensions before their invasion of Ukraine. The Biden administration refused to make the promise even though reports at the time said they were telling Ukraine privately that it won't be joining within the next decade.
