A lot of comedy assumes everyone in the audience is normal and doesn't have anything quote unquote wrong with them or weird about them. "We're not laughing at you because you're actually all right," he says to those who haven't done it. It's probably quite rude to laugh in their face but they will care more about the audience members than a comic on stage.
