The Different Types of Intent in Tax Cases

Almost every criminal statute requires the prosecutor to prove that the offense was committed knowingly and with intent. The law just really abhors the idea of strict liability, holding people criminally liable for something they didn't intend. So it's very few statutes that say you're liable even if you didn't intend to do that.
