The Importance of Exercise in Management of Persistent Depression
Psychiatry is in this really interesting transition from the DSM-based paradigm of treatment to what I call the new neuroscience-based paradigm. The importance for daily management of people with persistent depression is the importance of things like exercise. Exercise increases levels of brain, BDNF, brain drive, neurotrophic factor, and other brain trophic factors. That's the importance of relaxation, yoga, meditation, mindfulness.
