Mysticism and the Mystic Movements Within Religions

In Christianity, you have the run of the mill Christian who refrains from coveting his neighbor's wife. And then you have the hardcore Buddhist monk who through meditation practice attains to an actual encounter with the formless void at the heart of all seeming existence. These movements are organized in such a way as to assist in bringing on the kinds of direct encounters with the divine that we mentioned in our first definition of mysticism.
