Wooden is something that is dull, something boring, something without any life. Unconvincing - something that doesn't get you to change your mind or believe it. So if they are unconvinced by the arguments of the defence lawyer, unfortunately, then his client is going to be found guilty because they were not convinced as to why he shouldn't be found guilty.
