The Burning Bush

The burning bush has the potential to read like an abstract mystical encounter by a shepherd who's just stayed out in the sun too long. The truth is though that God is initiating this conversation with Moses not abstractly but in the most personal way possible. To grasp just how personal it is you've got to know a little bit of Moses' story. He was born a Hebrew slave on an Egyptian plantation adopted by the Egyptian king's daughter. All that luxury and privilege came on the backs of his own ancestors.
