Is There a Tension in the Desert?
Aquinas argues that for Christ, temptation has to be of an exterior kind only because he has the fullness of virtue. He can't have these sorts of inordinate desires that we experience, no concupisence whatsoever. Aquinas argues that this would have been an inappropriate use of Christ's divine power. The passion of love is a simple reaction to the goodness of something. We might say that I love chocolate and not want to eat it right now. So likewise, not Aquinas Christ, heaven forbid I confuse the two.
