The drinks industry is like a lot of big other industries that we take for granted, is big. Canna has made a machine that does on your countertop what that industry does and when the machine ships next year, it will be able to do several hundred drinks. Longer term, they say thousands. No bottles to make, no trees to water, no wase to toss. That's the idea. Not many people havetr this machine yet, so you'll hear it here first. But before we get there, i was given a quick tour of the office,. The company has finally startedd come out to play in the last month or so talking about what they're doing.
The Sunday Times’ tech correspondent Danny Fortson brings on Matt Mahar, chief executive of Cana, to talk about the problem with the $2 trillion drinks company (5:55), the science of Cana (8:00), how the company started (10:00), where he worked before Cana (16:40), the product (18:15), getting people to buy in (20:00), whether “printed” drinks are good for you (23:30), providing every drink from morning to night (26:00), except for milk and beer (28:40), the specter of Juicero (31:15), and trying to find the right people (34:20).
