Alcide's Hoax in Afghanistan Was a Worse Thing
A bi partisan commission set up a year after 9 11 to investigate the attacks, concluded in two thousand and four that there had been a failure of policy management, capability and imagination. The threat was known but it was just that it was buried in the noise. There were so many other issues on the us Agenda, and despite clear warning signs, it didn't rise to the top of the pile.
