Are We in a Democratic World?
In the Cold War, we were able to put the points at the key authoritarian regime in the Soviet Union and say, look how awful it is. And now you often look at the richest democracies, go to Singapore, and it looks like a science fiction feature paradise. I mean, the systems Singapore does work. The UAE does work. And this is not to say that we should become like them, but it is a real image problem for democracies everywhere. If you basically can't convince your own people that your system is better at delivering, which is a big concern for me.
