Shores Algorithm for Factoring, Is It a Quantum or Quantum Approach?
The idea is to combine a quantum part of your algorithm and your classical part of an algorithm. In theory, that would be a way of attacking RSA without building a serious quantum computer. But you can't take the qubit numbers we have on those computers at face value. There's issues about coherence or circuit depth which this paper only hand waved at in appendices.
