The Wild with Chris Morgan
Orcas in the Pacific Northwest - A Story of Grief and Celebration
KUW's Chris Morgan meets up with Dan Olson, an expert on orca calls. He uses a hydrophone to record the sounds of killer whales in Puget Sound. The recordings can be picked up 15 miles away by researchers at sea. Jay Julius is a tribal member near where I live in the Pacific Northwest. From his perspective it's a story of grief and generational trauma for orcas.
