The Importance of PBL in Medical School Instruction

In an attempt to rescue medical students from lectures and memory-based recall exams approximately 60 medical schools in North America have adopted PBL. Although PBL students receive better scores for their clinical performance they also order significantly more unnecessary tests at a much higher cost per patient with less benefit so there is an important caveat here actually they get better scores as their clinical performance when they're doing PBL but a high cost because they keep on testing lots of things which are unnecessary.
