The Role of Tellers in the Recession
It's totally unfair to blame black families who had exploding rate mortgages for those mortgages. There were banks including Wells Fargo where mortgage sales people actually went to black churches and convinced people to switch from 30 year mortgages that they already had on their houses. I remember so clearly and this isn't in the book but a woman who was speaking to me because she had decided to switch her banking relationship from one of the big banks to a black owned bank. A big bank mortgage salesmen had sold them this terrible product and told them that it was the only option that they had. And I just decided I didn't want to be part of that system anymore.
