The Different Statuses of Sensei in Japan

The word sensei is equivalent to teacher, doctor, right? And so all of a sudden you're given this elevated status. One thing that I noticed right away was just the personal space difference. You know, like we hug as a greeting if you know the person or shake hands. But yeah, there's so many different shocks I had in Japan.
