Psychologists explain that people who join groups such as the Ku Klux Klan are insecure and feel a need to do something that makes them feel powerful or superior. Perhaps W.E.B. De Bois, historian and civil rights leader, understood Klansman best. We hurt others because we are afraid and are in pain. I am scared, so I'm going to shoot a gun at someone who doesn't look like me. So, like... Who am I if I don't have someone to hate? Maybe it's their fault, everything about that. It's their fault for not looking like me.
