The Impact of Superconductivity on Physics

Superconductors are basically macroscopic quantum systems. And if we have the room temperature, then it's indistinguishable. Just amazing what you can do with it. This is a piece of Yitrium copper barium oxide that needs to be cooled below its superconducting transition temperature - 90 Kelvin. So this is 77 Kelvin, which of course is very balmy compared to what we do in the cosmic microwave background. We're just simple cosmologists around here.
