There's another theory that was floated around for a couple of decades pretty strongly in the last 30 or 40 years. Neil Price sort of fuses the traditional view of the Vikings as these you know conquest oriented super raiders and people who are looking for more of a migration and a new life. He calls it sort of an armed family migration and I thought to myself hmm there's a lot of times in history where you could describe something as anarmed family migration.
