Bacteria and viruses have always had an impact on us in good and bad ways. The period at which infectious diseases emerged is the so-called Neolithic Revolution. This meant that lots of humans were living in densely populated settlements, very close to animals. And this created the opportunity for many infectious diseases to hop from animals to humans.
