A company is using genetically modified microbes to create peptides that taste like sugar but are digested like proteins. Although these microbes are technically genetically engineered, the desired products can be purified and legally sold as non-GMO. In nature, in the garden of Eden, sugar was good enough in the apple to give you sweetness. But today's paradise in the jungles, this is not enough.
