The Disappointment of Following Jesus
Peter was on the verge of returning to self-sufficiency. The sense that obviously it seemed this leaving everything behind to follow Jesus thing had not exactly worked out the way that he had planned. And in no way was Peter saying he didn't believe in Jesus. All that Jesus wasn't Israel's hope for Messiah but let's be realistic.
