New York State Assembly Passes a Bill to Block Crypto Mining

The new york state assembly passed a bill to block new crypto mining facilities that use non renewable energy sources from setting up in the state. It's a two year moratorium on new firms that mine using a carbon based energy source, and it also prohibits renewals for existing permits if they want to expand their mining uses these types of sources. "I don't think this is some cataclysmic thing," says Jake trevin tweeded who fought against the bill. But he thinks there is a chance that it sets up an opportunity to actually show how the crypto industry can work with progressives in a sort of hostile state to make progress on these issues.
